The Belgian refrigeration and freezing industry records a weighted cost increase of 5.45% in 2024. This increase is driven by rising insurance premiums (+6.2%), labor costs (+5.1%), energy prices (+3.8%) and other cost increases (+1%).
For 2025, a clear difference is emerging between Flanders and Wallonia. "Due to the announced 40% increase in network and distribution tariffs, Flemish companies will have to reckon with a minimum cost increase of 7,67%, " said Joris Olbrechts, president of BE-Cold (Belgian Cold Chain Federation). "For Walloon companies, where tariffs increase by 7%, we expect a minimum cost increase of 5.74%."
